First 3D Models

The below images are some of the first models I created using Autodesk Maya. They are relatively basic compared to some of the other models I made. And at this stage, I didn’t really understand what good topology was. So, the topology wasn’t as clean as it could have been, but they turned out better than I thought they would.

I have added images of the textured and untextured versions of some, and the UVs to show the topology of them. The first model is of my Xbox One X, the second is my old Alienware Aurora PC. The image quality isn’t as good as it could be as it is before I learned to render inside Unreal Engine for better quality images.

My Tiny Room - first year college project.

This is the culmination of my first-year experience. We were tasked with creating a 5x5x2.2m room within Unreal Engine 4 called ‘my tiny room’. The challenge was simply to create a room with various models. I chose to do a bedroom with various items that I had in my room at the time.

I created all the models and UVs in Autodesk Maya, making sure to export all models as FBX files. I imported the UVs into Photoshop where I used images I took of my own items for the textures and then imported all the FBX files into UE4 and laid them out to create my tiny room project. Again, this was all before I understood about good topology but all in all, it turned out well.

University final year Animation renders.

The below video shows the various animations I made for my final year university project. I’m not the strongest when it comes to animations and some aspects I do struggle with. Such as the metal door and lock. But I managed to get the highest marks in any of my assignments for this, so I am very happy with how it turned out.

University final year game level.

This is the culmination of my experience at college and university. Using what I had learned over the years to create a game level with better models. I knew more about creating models with better and cleaner topology than in my time at college. I also used knowledge I had gained to create better models using high to low poly baking in Substance Painter.

I loved working on this project, as it shows everything that I had worked for during my time at college and university and I am proud of how it turned out.
