WHAT IS MY PROJECT?

For my project, I am creating a 2D side-scrolling platformer game based around mental health. It is based around the main character’s personal battle with their mental health problems. They keep pushing their family away who only want to help, but one day, they wake up and finally realise they need to get help. So, they set out to take on their inner demons and get their life back on track. Venturing into the shadow realm is dangerous, but is the best way to battle the demons of your mental health and get your life back.

The target audience are 15-24-year-olds, and I want to raise awareness for the younger generation to show how much mental health can affect your everyday life, and the people around you. But also that it doesn’t mean it is the end, you can learn to overcome the obstacle set in your way, and learn to battle your demons and not let them win.

5 – Problem Solving – I added a risk assessment to show the possible things that could go wrong in any industry and job. Showing the likelihood and severity of each.

6 – Documents – I added my planning documentation to my site, which included both the feasibility and concept documentation. I also added a small document with a description of what I wanted my sprites to look like, just to give an example of the art style.

7 – Professional Practice – I added in the Gantt chart I made for my initial production timeline for Battle your Demons. Showing from pre-production to post-production.

9 – Professional Practice – I started adding in my sprint sheets. I have been doing these weekly and will add more as and when they have been finished.

10 – Technical Skills – I created my tilesets for my 3 main levels of the game. Tilesets to be used are the first versions of the 3 tilesets I created, but I realised they wouldn’t blend when making the levels. Blended tilesets are the second versions I made with more tiles so they blended seamlessly.

11 â€“ Problem Solving – I took several screenshots to show the difference between how both the unblended and blended tiles looked when placing the levels together. I used the images for the unblended tiles to make the blended ones using Photoshop until I was happy with the overall outcome.

12 – Technical Skills – I started adding in some of the mechanics that I made for my game, some of the different ones I didn’t try in my last game. I will add more as and when I find some to add in. If you want to view the entire log click here.

13 – Technical Skills – I added in the level designs for my 3 levels in the game. I made them on graph paper to begin with and then moved them to Excel to make them a little neater.
