BATTLE YOUR DEMONS
PROBLEM SOLVING
Here you will see things relating to any testing/feedback such as changes made, You can also find out about what hardware/software I am/have been using and why, and also a risk assessment showing possible risks with their severity, probability and some possible outcomes.
MY FINAL PLAN
I initially had 3 ideas that I came up with for my main project, I conducted secondary research on the 2 main themes I was looking at which was climate change and mental health. This helped me to set up a simple survey for primary research purposes, I then posted this survey to multiple platforms which helped me gain more responses than expected.
It helped me to pick my final idea based on what people seemed to be drawn to. This was my first idea based on a game about mental health and the various effects it can have on people and their lives. It will attempt to raise more awareness of mental health problems and how they can potentially be overcome.
RISK ASSESSMENT
Below you will find a simple analysis of a risk assessment, it shows some possible outcomes and includes their severity and probability of happening. I have also added a few possible contingencies, so the risk doesn’t have to be as bas as it could be. One thing I reiterate is the need for having backups for your work, it is essential to have multiple backups for EVERYTHING that you do. And have both online – such as cloud storage (Google Drive, OneDrive etc.) – and offline – such as internal and external SSD’s or HDD’s.
AN ISSUE WITH MY TILESETS
There was an issue with my Tilesets as you can see in the below images, and I didn’t realise it when I was first putting them together. I only noticed when I started putting the levels together using the Tile Map editor in UE4. And the issue was that the tiles didn’t blend together, since there were only vertical, horizontal, corners, slopes and bridge tiles. There were no tiles that blended any of them together to give more of a seamless look to my levels, so it looked really bad and unprofessional. I know I’m not exactly a professional in the games industry (maybe one day) but it made it look like I don’t know what I’m doing.
FIXING THEÂ ISSUE WITH MY TILESETS
So, I spent more time in Photoshop making different tiles so they would all blend together seamlessly in UE4. I thought it would be easier putting the levels together first in UE4 with the tile map editor, as this would allow me to see exactly where I needed to make the blending tiles for, so I didn’t make too many or make ones that I didn’t need. It took a little time to get the blending tiles looking right but I think it was worth spending the extra time putting them together, as I believe it makes the levels look so much better now that the tiles all blend together properly.
